Easter Reflections

Growing up, Easter Sunday was a day of egg hunts, expansive lunch spreads, and more chocolate than any one child should eat in a single setting (but I still did it anyway). Easter was one of several holidays where my extended family would get together. Parents, siblings, cousins, nephews, nieces, uncles, and aunts all crammed into my grandparents house to spend time together in eating, conversation, and most of all, in reflection of our Lord.

The days of Easter at my grandparents has passed, but the memories remain. This weekend much of the world will stop to reflect on the most significant event in human history, the death, burial, and resurrection of Jesus Christ. This event is central to our Christianity. It is the "gospel" we preach (1 Cor. 15:1-4). It is the foundation of our salvation (Rom. 6:1-5). It is the central thread of our worship (1 Cor. 11:23-26).

Today the world remembers the death of the Lord Jesus Christ. As you worship this Easter Sunday, reflect on the Lord. Remember His saving work on the cross. Remember the empty tomb. Remember His ascension to the Father. Rejoice in the knowledge that He will one day return to take us home.

Happy Easter! God loves you.
