For many of us the holidays are a wonderful time full of joy, magic, and memories. For others though the holiday season is a grim reminder of past events and an opportunity for feelings of depression to skyrocket. Some of these depressed, hurting people are in the community around us; others are sitting in the pews next to you each Sunday.
I do not write this to shame those of you who love the holiday season, you should! We should also keep a look out for those with nowhere to go and those who may be feeling down during the holidays.
Keep an eye out for them. Invite them into your home. Give them an encouraging word. Love them. “Weep with those who weep” (Rom. 12:15). As you celebrate this holiday season, continue to minister to those around you, especially those struggling with this time of the year.
